ROCKIN’ DOWN THE HIWAY

(The Ultimate Musical Road Trip)

Band Concept

Americans LOVE the road. They love their cars, the highways, freeway, the back roads, dirt roads, side roads/ They love big rigs, pick up trucks, sports cars, SUV’s, some even love hybrids and electric cars. Yes, Americans “get their motors runnin’” and “head out on the highway.” Our love affair with cars, highways and road trips have been documented and recorded in hundreds of songs over the decades.

Rockin' Down The Hiway is a live, theme show designed to take audiences on a journey through the world of hot rods, cruising, road trips, highways, and to simply celebrate America's love affair with the "great open road." The all new line-up includes the following artists:

Tommy “T-Bird” King – Band leader, front man, lead vocalist, keyboard & harmonica player. He has founded and front popular Sacramento groups, Rockin’ Down The Hiway and SweeTTooth. An associate of Tabletop since ’01, Tommy began playing piano at the tender age of six years. He began performing professionally in the mid-60’s and has been an integral part o the Sacramento music scene since. A dynamic front man who aims to entertain audiences, Tommy’s idea of a successful show is when the audience is singing along and participating. “I just love it when the audience is singing loud. There is absolutely no better feeling of accomplishment.”

“Cadillac Jack” Hurst – Lead guitarist, Cadillac Jack is a highly regarded musician, born & raised in Northern California. He was a founding member (with King) of both Rockin’ and SweeTTooth. He describes his style as BluemetalJaRockCountry, a fusion of Blues, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Rock & Country genres. In G.L.O.R.I.A., he incorporates many of those styles into his playing. Jack started in high school garage and then began working professionally in the 80’s. He has shared stage with celebrities such as 38 Special, Robin Trower and The Tubes. In 30 years of playing, he has played hundreds of live “gigs.” Jack, the consummate professional, claims that “every year gets better with a little help from my friends.”

“Drivin’” Darin Wilson -- Guitar, Lead & Backing Vocals. Darin was born & raised in Northern California. At 12, Darin began piano lessons with a lady from the tiny country of Luxembourg. He has been played professionally for over 25 years, most recently, with Chico-based Urban Legend. Darin brings strong lead vocals and harmonizing, sharing duties with T’Bird King. You will hear the influences of The Beatles and Journey in his playing with Rockin’ Down The Hiway. Darin is a multi-instrumentalist who also plays bass and keyboards.

Robert “The Roadster” Mills – New to the RDTH this year, drummer Robert began rockin’ out on an oatmeal box courtesy of his mother. He was at the tender age of four. He learned his craft playing in school bands and shared the stage with his later brother & guitarist, George in the early stages of his career. In the “real” world, Robert made a living building custom homes, but got back into “the music biz” by heading up his own band “The R. Mills Band” from 1995 to 2008. Before joining “Rockin’” Mills teamed up with bassist, Jeff Viducich in “On The Rocks” playing steadily throughout Northern California in clubs, casinos and special event. His steady rhythm is the foundation on which RDTH takes you on the road! His comment on joining the group was “This is going to be good!”

“Jalopy Jeff” Viducich – Bass & Vocals. A native of Sacramento, Jeff began performing at 14. His career has been a versatile one, playing rock, blues and jazz for most of his life, all over the Golden State. Jeff joins his “On The Rocks” band mate this year as a new member of Rockin’ Down The Hiway. His solid bass playing along with his lead and background singing, give the band a new dimension with three part harmonies, making the 2013 version of RDTH even more dynamic. Jeff is also one of the (now defunct) Tower Records alumni, having worked there for several years. This has added depth to his knowledge of the record and live performance industries.
