A Musical Night At the Movies
With POPCORN

A
MUSICAL NIGHT AT THE MOVIES WITH POPCORN is a San Diego, CA based
five-piece group of extremely talented, professional, veteran
musicians, fronted by DON BASKIN (the founder, leader, front-man,
singer & songwriter from THE SYNDICATE OF SOUND). They comprise a
unique instrumental lineup of violin, sax and flute (plus guitar, bass
& drums), giving them a distinctive realism to the particular music
they are performing in this extraordinary show.
A
MUSICAL NIGHT AT THE MOVIES WITH POPCORN is not just a band. It is a
multi-sensory assault on listener’s senses, as the band performs an
array of popular hit songs from blockbuster Hollywood movies LIVE.
Even the sense of smell is satiated, as the distinctive aroma of
hot-buttered popcorn circulates throughout the venue while movie clips
are broadcast and the band plays on!
To
our knowledge, this simple, but brilliant concept has never been
attempted before. Imagine watching shots of the “dancing groundhog”
from CADDYSHACK while Popcorn plays “I’m Alright.” Watch Tom Cruise
try to keep pace with a fighter jet on his motorcycle while the jet
blazes down the runway for take off in TOP GUN, while this talented
quintet works its musical magic on Berlin’s Academy Award Winning
“Take My Breath Away.” Or watch a special Claymation cartoon of “The
Devil Went Down To Georgia” as the band knocks out a killer version of
the Charlie Daniels classic!
This
unique presentation is a meshing of two different entertainment
formats that have always worked together on the Silver Screen, but NOT
on the concert stage. Many groups utilize video to enhance and to help
“visualize” their music in a concert, but the pairing of LIVE
performances of hit music from the movie
clip that is being projected behind the band is TOTALLY NEW! And, it
is entertainment at a higher level, to be frank. Catch a “flick” and a
live concert at the same time, with
A MUSICAL NIGHT AT
THE MOVIES WITH POPCORN at a theater near you!
